Entry Information

There are two methods for entering a horse. You can complete an entry form and drop it in the appropriate entry box ‘slot’ in the Northville Downs race office. You may also enter by phoning the race office (248-349-1000, press 7, then 1) between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on the specified entry day. Draw results are available after 2:00 p.m. each draw day.

Entry Schedule
Friday race day – enter by 9:00 a.m. Tuesday
Saturday race day – enter by 9:00 a.m. Wednesday

Scratch within 24 hours of entry. Cal race office with driver changes within 24 hours of entry.

Current health documentation must be on file prior to entering your horse. Proof of a negative Coggins test within the past 12 months (current calendar year or December prior) must be on file with the race office and proof of EVH vaccination within the past 6 months must be on file with the MGCB veterinarian.

The state veterinarian maintains a list of health documentation on which the race office relies. If you have submitted new documentation within a few days of entering a horse, it is a good idea to fax the documentation directly to the race office in the event that your latest information is not yet reflected on the state veterinarian’s list.

It is also recommended that you maintain a file of health documentation for your horse(s) and bring it with you any time you transport. You may encounter situations when, for a variety of reasons, you need to provide race officials with documentation. Also, having health papers in your possession when transporting horses may be required by law in some jurisdictions.

Prior to entering your horse, review the condition sheets available in the race office and online in the horsemen’s section of the Sports Creek website (http://www.northvilledowns.com/sheets.pdf). Choose the race(s) that best fit your horse. In some cases, you may be able to provide a second choice race should your horse not draw into your first choice, but keep in mind that all other horses entered in your second choice race will have preference. Depending on the order in which the races are drawn, the Race Secretary may or may not be able to accommodate such requests.

It is your responsibility to enter your horse only in races for which they qualify. Be sure you understand the different conditions and your horse’s current status (age, races won, monies won, etc.). If unsure, consider using the USTA’s online Pathways system (http://www.ustrotting.com/) to verify the current status of your horse.

In order to reduce the possibility of entry errors, be sure and clearly identify the race condition for which you are entering and know how to spell your horse’s name. Also, confirm that the race office has your current and correct phone number so they are able to contact you in the event of a problem with your entry. If the race office has your correct phone number they are also able to contact you should races be cancelled for some reason.
